Fuge/ATO question
« on: November 02, 2009, 07:22:02 PM »
I just added a 30L fuge to my 75 gal. tank but am not sure where the ATO is supposed to go. I placed it in the section where the skimmer is, but was told it should go in the baffeled section where the pump is. As I have to add water to that section every day or so,  it seems like I placed it in the wrong spot, any input appreciated,  sorry bout crappy pic, but you can see ATO in left section, does it need to be in the middle section where the pump is? Thanx   Johnnie

If that's where you are currently adjusting the water level, that's where I would put it.
I didn't run a fuge. One water level thru out my sumps.

depends on the type of ato, it all evolves aroind the sensor type, i dont think its critical, mines in the return area, but i cant see why the skimmer section is a worry, unless its unusually turbulent in there and the sensor gets hammered

In a sump/fuge area the baffles are typically designed to maintain water levels in each compartment.  The water will not go to the next one until it overflows the baffle.  Typically the only compartment that have a water level fluctuation is the one with the return pump as that section doesn't overflow to anywhere.

If your ATO is based on water level and adding new water when the level drops, you would want to have it set up in the return pump area.

Did you move it to the return pump section?  I assume everything is now working properly.
