I'm still kind of new at this and I think they do the singles different. The team tourney they call Cities and it's the Tampa Bay area, Clearwater, St. Pete, Tampa, Brandon, so on. IIRC there were around 50 teams. I'm guessing the regionals for singles cover the same area. It may be larger. Either way if I win I go to Vegas. BUT!! It just became more difficult for me. Beause I spanked everyone in my skill level at this last tourney they moved me up one. So in regionals I'll be playing people in a higher skill level bracket. Actually some will be 2 levels above what I was playing. I have until March to get my game up.

Figured I'd give everyone an update. I play the singles regional tournament March 6th. They've moved me up 2 skill levels since I qualified. There's 11 people left in my level. Not sure how many matches I'll end up playing but If I win this it's off to Vegas. They list the prize pool in Vegas at $250,000,000.00
Not sure how all that is paid out.
First step is getting past these 11 folks. They are the best of the best in the Bay area and only 1 gets to go. I'll let you know how I do.
Meantime I have a lot of practicing to do over the next 2 weeks.

Sorry I haven't been around much. Trying to spend every free moment I have practicing. Tomorrow is the big day. I have an early wake up call, 5:30am. It's about a 45min drive and I have to be there at 7. 7:30am registration and start shooting at 8am.
Little different than what I'm used to. Usually I'm shooting at night with a few drinks in me. This will definitely be a change. Maybe I'll bring a little Baileys for my coffee....lol

Well I guess you won't be seeing me on ESPN with a MRK shirt on. lol
It was a good day considering this was my first regionals. They had me playing in the 4 skill level as a 5. Which meant if I played a 4 I had to win 4 games b4 they won 3 or if a 5 first to win 4. I made it to the semi final game. Matches went 4-1, 4-3, 3-4, 4-1, 4-2, 3-3. The 5 I lost to in the third match was playing for the win in the finals and was a great player. I should have beaten the guy in my last match but I while making my last ball I scratched giving him ball in hand on the 8. All he had to do was tap in the 8 for the win.  :'( Very disappointing. At least I can say the guy that went to Vegas is the guy that put me out...lol
Like that means anything.  *frustrated*
In the words of Ricky Bobby "If you aint, first your last"

They better look out next year.
