Aqua C EV-120 Skimmer
« on: January 05, 2010, 02:35:28 PM »
I don't have extensive knowledge of skimmers. I have used only two. A CPR Bak Pak (reef version) and now an Aqua C.
Ease of use- pretty decent other than dialing in the water height seemed to take awhile during break in but once set seemed to after a day stay pretty solid.
Plumbing- Id have to say using soft tubing isn't too awfully bad. The fittings all seemed to be well thought out except for a couple that fit a little too closely.
Collection cup- Easy twist and lift to dump. also has a outlet for using a skimmer jug if you want to.

Complaints- only thing that seemed a little tough was needing to see through the acrylic which is smoke black.....need a flashlight. Other than that its nice, the spray injection really does seem to make enough bubbles.

I'm running a Rio 1700 pump on it.

From my limited use of skimmers I give this one two thumbs up.

from what I have heard about skimmers... a day of break in is pretty quick!

I know the CPR said 24-48 hours as well, looks to be doing a good job I hadnt run a skimmer in almost 6 months on this tank so it started pulling crud within an hour or so.

I also have the ev120 and I enjoyed it when I used it.  Ill have it set up on my new tank though.  It seems to work well with the mag5.  Lots of bubbles too!  I also agree about the smoke black acrylic.  Hard to see in when adjusting.
